That's a shame as I'm looking forward to this. Leigh Whannell is doing solid work thus far as a director (Upgrade, The Invisible Man). I'm cautiously optimistic about this.

It seems from the article that they only started production 12 days ago so this may be a case of them running a bit behind schedule and not wanting to rush things.

It may work out for the best as Smile 2 was opening one week before this. If that does as well as the first one did at the box office then Wolf Man could have got trampled. It'll also help Smile 2 of course, it won't have much competition over the Halloween period now. The only other horror slated for October 2024 is Terrifer 3 which opens 25th October but that'll be niche and won't do big business.

I don't have high hopes for this. If it means there's more chance it'll be good then it's good news.
