I must of miss that part. Did Axe food poisoning him!! And if so when and where did he do it.

Oh ok. So did Axe know he was taking to the Feds or not.

It was a set-up if I remember correctly

he found out Donnie had Aids, paid for some treatments that were worse than a cure, and talked Donnie into talking to the feds, giving false info, promising them more, and doing himself at the end for a big inheritance from AXE

Misdirection from a guy who was dieing anyway

Donnie had pancreatic cancer. Axe convinced Donnie to pretend to be a mole and give false info to Connerty and the Feds and made sure that Donnie's kids were taken care of. He also set Donnie up with a top-rated cancer doc, but then talked the doctor out of having Donnie participate in a drug trial which might have prolonged Donnie's life by a few months.
