Malin Akerman
Good grief, what a terrible actress. She basically ruined Watchmen and is completely outclassed by every other one of the central actors on this show.

Agree, she's the weak spot in a great cast.
shareI always find it interesting when I look at a performers IMDB page, and it seems the good ones are in a bunch of shows that I've seen, and the "lesser ones," to be polite, are in a whole series of shows that I haven't seen (for her, a few unmemorable bit parts in movies I saw 10 or more years ago). I do know that a lot of people become genre cast, where they are always in cop shows, sci-fi shows, or family dramas, most likely because the people involved in making those shows only watch whatever is in their genre. But then you have someone like Costabile who had some minor, but significant roles in the past which elevated him to the A-list and he will likely stay there for awhile. As Detective Rick Messer on Damages he was both unrecognizable and brilliant.
I think my percentage of Chimp DNA is higher than others. Cleaver Greene
She's one of the reason i'm watching the show only her and Giammati have done anything good in their career
share?? Siff has already done 2 exellent shows(Mad men, SOA) and Lewis has done some great work
shareHomeland and Band of Brothers much?
shareI am not sure where the OP went to acting school or whether he did an internship at the Actors Studio or what but he seems to have a lot of opinions about who is or is not a good actor. Malin Akerman is playing a part that was written for her. She is not creating the part, she is reading and acting out the lines she is given. I wish you would give some specifics on what you find so objectionable. I find her to be playing a very balanced but nuanced character, the perfect foil for her high maintenance husband.
Have you ever seen the program, Ray Donovan? Abby, Ray's wife on that program is a nightmare. Her husband will be out there slaying fictious dragons and bringing home tons of money so she can live in a nice house in Calabasas California; and she gives him hell every single day. She is needy and jealous with no clue what her husband goes thru on a daily basis
Malin Akerman is the exact opposite. She shows that you don't have to nag and berate your husband to have a good marriage. She has Bobby's back in every situation and he doesn't even always know what she is up to. They are really the perfect pair, with the same background, the same drive, and the same cunning ability to play the game to hilt.

Never heard of her, I don't think she has done anything that would be recognised in the UK.
shareShe's one of those women who looks worse as a blonde. She was sexy on Watchmen but doesn't look that good on Billions. I don't like her character on Billions but I don't see her as a bad actress.
shareShe comes off so melodramatic all the time, like she's playing a mean girl in high school instead of an actual person.
shareNo, she's not Meryl Streep (who is?), but she's not terrible, either.
The problem is the role itself doesn't give her much to do, and what she is given is pretty straightforward. It's ultimately a supporting role, but to one of the two main characters. But even with that connection, there are some episodes in which she's barely featured, and often when she is in a scene, she's standing quietly beside her husband.
It's a borderline one-dimensional role, so she hasn't had the opportunity to stretch it out, and make it more interesting. Hopefully that will change. Some of my favorite scenes have involved her when she's away from the other lead characters, such as having lunch with the lawyer, and some from the latest episode, such as when she was confronted by her family in the restaurant.

I think Malin is an ok actress but I think that she's miscast here. I cringe every time her character talks about how tough she is or how she comes from a big Irish family because she just sounds so unconvincing. (It doesn't help that the actress looks much more Scandinavian than Irish). The dialogue is also to blame though. Tough people don't stand around talking about being tough, they just are tough.
shareITA, she's mediocre in this role at best.
