Shameless McDonalds commercial

I am a born again Christian and I thought this movie was pathetic I hate to do this to a movie that may touch someone for God but this thing was unbearable I have never seen a movie with more product placement and continuous talk about a sponsor than this movie they talk about McDonalds and chill McDonald's food and drink over and over and over we were laughing in the movie at the saddest times because of the continuous McDonalds propaganda save your money this movie was like sitting in the ER waiting room for 90 minutes.

I wrote the post using my cell phone so that is why punctuation was poor. I can understand one trip to McDonalds but constant trips to McDonalds and constant McDonald's products on the screen talking incessantly about French fries and milkshakes and hamburgers to gain weight it was too far over the top. Again I am typing this on a cell phone forgive poor punctuation. But make no mistake about it this movie was pathetic.

Ridiculous.

Christians don't eat at McDonalds? Especially when times are tough and you're too emotionally drained to cook?

Most people who have sat for long hours in a hospital, late into the night will recognize those scenes at the late night McDonald's drive through. It sure brought back memories for me. Usually there are only two late night choices in a lot of small communities...McD's or BK. And yeah, I got pretty tired of both of them after awhile but I was taking care of someone who was going to be in the hospital for a long time and didn't have a lot of time or energy for cooking.

And back in 1989 McDonald's was still an occasional economical family treat for a young family. McDonald's is mentioned in the book too and they tried to stay close to the story.

So no big conspiracy here but a lot of real life.

Here's the best reason of all to include McDonald's in the film. Having my loved one in the hospital for 21 days, I usually stayed as late as possible. I certainly didn't feel like cooking, so there were those trips to McDonald's. Cheap price and no cooking worked for me.

brett, I hope you never have a loved one in the hospital,
but if you do, you'll remember the mcdonalds scene.
Wishing you the best on your quest to be more like Jesus :)

Seriously, don't pay attention to some of these fools. They will defend anything as long as it is pushing a certain agenda they agree with. The restaurant could have been ANY fast food place. It could have been a completely generic one. It had NO BEARING ON THE STORY WHATSOEVER. The only reason it was constant McDonalds is because McDonalds gave them a wad of cash to plug their brand. It's insulting really. We don't pay money to watch movies to be bombarded with commercial endorsements.

Most movies have endorsements and ads. It's silly to try to take business out of movie making. The advertising in movies and television will always be part and parcel of the movie making industry. A good friend of mine, God rest his soul, once did some marketing in television and told me lots about the industry and using products to help sell movies and tv programming. It's not pathetic. It's just good business and really didn't have anything to do with the movie. However, it made sense to have Mc D's in it just as having a Coke or Dr. Pepper in another movie. It makes me laugh when I see people get all bent out of shape over something trivial.
