Do you care about these characters?

For me, films can be be educational, entertaining and informing. However, at the heart of it all are stories and characters.

Having watched 20th Century Women, I'm just not bothered about the fate of any of the characters, though I quite enjoyed the story of three women and the coming of age aspects of the film for Jamie.

Let's not confuse not caring with liking or disliking the characters. I liked the male characters but still didn't care about their fate, even when all was revealed at the end. This is a quite personal story from Mike Mills so maybe that's why it didn't resonate with me. Perhaps there was some other reason.

Ultimately, though I gave it a 6, I was happy when it was over. Not a bad film, just not memorable enough to remember other than the 'menstruation' scene.
