Anyone have any idea as to why the Russians would steal his car, especially, knowing who he is?
I realize that it makes for a good way to start the action and get the adrenaline going, but knowing "who" he is, you'd think that they'd steer clear of him like the plague.
I enjoyed both movies, just wondering if it's just typical Hollywood BS to jump start the 2nd film.
Afaik they did not actually steal it, they still had it after the first film and he just went back to get it. The second film starts couple days after the first ends.
shareThat opening sequence was cool as hell---especially because it actually takes you a minute to understand what the hell's going on at first. I love it when the Russian villain boss freaks the fck out after he's been told that John Wick may be paying them a visit. He's all like, "WTF? You actually had the balls to piss John Wick the fck off? And he's coming here? Aw,hell naw! You picked the wrong one to fck with---he's gonna smoke everything and everybody in here! We're done!" Both 1 and 2 have this dark, offbeat humor that makes everything easier to deal with---another reason I like both films.lol.

shareIn the first film, the son of Russian boss (Viggo), saw John Wick and his cool car at a gas station. He offered to buy the car but John said it was not for sale (in a polite way). The son was obviously pissed off, probably because he thinks he can get anything he wants. Not knowing who John's history, the son and his gang broke into John's home, killed his dog (which is the final gift from John's wife, who died due to illness), beat John up badly, and stole his car.
The reason he stole his car was stupid, but it is all about John's determination to get revenge.... John wants to kill the son, the father wants to kill John, eventually got rid of by John, then second movie started where John comes back for the car....
As the movie states, John is a man of focus, determination, and sheer will.
