Who But But The Legends Could Combine Hitchcock With Disney?

A superb Hallowe’en episode. The singing Fairy Godmother, done on a low budget, was a wonderful spoof of the Disney Musicale; and, let’s face it: Disney is the only studio doing Musicales (yes, the “e” is intentional, appropriate, and linguistically correct), e.g., the Pitch Perfect series, Into The Woods, both versions of Beauty and the Beast. The song was was really not half bad (on a CW BUDGET? c’mon), and then they combine it with Hitchcock’s The Birds?! Amazingly inspired! “Who would ever choose to wear glass slippers? I mean: IMAGINE the blisters!” As far as I’m concerned, The Legends continues to be in a league of its own among CW series. I remain a little concerned about the shift in emphasis from greed-and-power-based time anomalies to
supernaturally-driven time anomalies, but it is probably a choice that has a longer lifespan, and more audience appeal.

My problems with this episode? Purely personal, and nothing to do with its entertainment value, but, prithee, allow me to vent. Yes, during the Salem witch hysteria (and the city that was named Salem then is now named Danvers MA, and the city today named Salem MA is NOT the Witch City that it poses as), women who were accused of witchcraft were hanged (not “hung”), and not burned. They were also stoned to death, drowned, and pressed to death by piling rocks atop them till they died. What sadism! What mallice! What true evil! I refer to the perpetrators, not the accused. I wouldn’t ask The Legends to put this in the show. It is too horrid. I thought it was another really satisfying ep. it just reminded me of things that trouble me. I have friends in the arcane community, including Wiccans in modern Salem. I am ferociously protective of them. Thank you for letting me vent.
