I already found the budget too big when it was around 120 million, but now it's just too much, 16 million a episode? I really like the show, but can't understand how it can be so expensive, not even Game Of Thrones cost that much to be produced. Maybe they should easy on the outside expenses and focus more on the storytelling.

Right now Netflix's most expensive show is currently their new British series THE CROWN, from what I've read. And for THE GET DOWN, it cost so much manly due to getting the rights to all that great old-school music for it.

Music rights and the show taking place 40 years ago. I've read many times that shows/movies that are period pieces tend to cost more. Just the cost of trying to replicate clothings, backgrounds, cars etc...anything just cost more to do.
