how much scorn is in this on a scale of 1-10?

I'd give it a low 7 on the Scorn Meter.

For scale: Fatal Attraction = 9
A Woman Scorned: The Betty Broderick Story = solid 10.

Actually, Gemma was quite composed and polished, given the amount of betrayal she faced.

reply

True, people have killed for a lot less. But its usually the cheater who kills, because they're an incredibly selfish person and they want their spouse out of the way.

The betrayal isn't the cheating. It happens. Monogamy is unnatural for both genders. The betrayal is the pattern of lies and continuing to cheat over and over and never telling her.

Well stated. That betrayal and constant lies were crazy making behavior for Gemma. Not to mention the betrayal by people she thought were her friends. Everyone adult in her immediate orbit not only knew about this other chick but they accepted her, spent time with her. How effed up is that?

reply

Incredibly messed up. I guess there's something that happens sometimes when people move to the place where they grew up and around all their friends and all the people who've always known them. Like that doctor whose name I can't remember, said, "Sometimes it's the place that's the problem quote. I remember going to visit my father's family in St. Louis for the first time since I was four... at age 16. It was like someone had flipped a switch once we've been there for a few hours there was a completely different man who came out to play it was like Dr. Jekyll meet Hyde. Lovely.

reply

A hell of a lot of scorn, but she was completely justified.
