Cocaine anachronism

Great film, but suffers from some poor research.

When she goes on a date with the anchor played by Michael C. Hall, he says he used to be a cokehead when he was at university. This means that must have been at some point in the late 50s.

As far as I know, cocaine wasn't a recreational drug that early.

I noticed that also

It was a recreational drug long before the 50s ("Some, they may go for cocaine. I'm sure that if I took even one sniff, It would bore me terrifically, too. Yet I get a kick out of you." Cole Porter, from "Anything Goes", 1934), but it is true that the 50s was a big lull in its popularity.
