Why do they bother to try to keep Star Trek going.

The "establishment" never liked Star Trek, it was only popular with
the people because of the future it portrayed, which was politically
subversive.

After the initial show was cancelled brutally, they realized and tried
to make money off the dead and rotting corpse of the show. They
made some garbage movies which missed the point, and then
series of boring nonsense after series, with barely a decent episode
in any of them.

And the horrible pandering to the American audience by making
Kirk a punk juvenile delinquent kid who knows better than everyone
else. I was a big fan or the original series but this new stuff just
gets farther and farther away from mattering or having any real
connection to what Star Trek was meant to be.

They keep making cop show after cop show too. People keep watching then. There must be an audience

agreed. they have all been shit. nice i saw the first one and got to this Kid car chase scene i knew the entire movie was going to be trash

When I first saw this scene all I could think of is while kid Kirk is going 80mph in a Corvette all the other kids in the 23rd century were flying around at thousands of miles per hour and pulling incredibly high g’s in the sky and space on their rides. So instead of making Kirk look like a badass it made me think of him as a dork.

Wrath of Khan and the TNG TV series were great, but other than that it's all been mediocre or downright crappy.

there can only be so many films with Chris Pine & co they can make before they become older than Shatner was to start with?
