Saw first two episodes at a screening tonight

My friend had free tickets from the paper.

I thought "drama about the royal family? Sounds like a snoozefest".

I was very pleasantly surprised by the first two episodes setting the stage for Elizabeth to take the crown.

King George, Matt Smith as Philip and John Lithgow as Churchill were all excellent.

The second episode was quite emotional, great score, I know Hans Zimmer did the title, not sure if he did the soundtrack.

There was some dodgy animal CGI in episode two.

There was some nudity but only from Philip.

It wasn't too badly put together, but essentially it was boring, about boring people. No amount of sweeping music can make the life of a 20th century royal interesting, all it does is make it come across as a comedy.

A snoozefest, unless you are one of these people who thinks the royals aren't a bunch of posh boring buffoons.
