Ridiculous show.

Grossly inaccurate. When have you seen Elizabeth II show any emotion? Insecurity? I also have always supported the royals and defended their function and position but watching this show I just don't know what to think anymore, the real life thing is way more impressive, this just makes it look ridiculous and unnecessary.

I, and probably you, too, have only seen Elizabeth II in public appearances, with the demeanor she chooses to present. "The Crown" depicts her, mostly, in private.

This is my view, too. We don't know how the royals are when they're out of the public eye. What I find interesting is what a huge sacrifice of privacy that they make. I'm still making my way through the first season, but already I've seen so many instances where the Queen and Prince Philip don't get to have a truly private conversation. There's always someone, such as an aide, in the room with them. I know I couldn't live like that.

It’s a drama, and like any other historical drama it created fictional characters based on real people. This is no different than any other historical or bio pic film, except many of the characters in The Crown are still alive. The writers made an educated guess at what these people are like behind closed doors. They chose to include rumor and innuendo as part of the plot, because it adds drama. It is not a documentary and should not be held to the same standard as one.

Entwickler's reply hits the mark. The show is not intended to portray only how the Queen and other royals act in public, but to demonstrate that they have private lives outside of the public eye. In fact, that is the whole point of the show. How accurate that portrayal is may be open to debate, but it is still entertaining.

Bro, you need to know that people are different in private. What she projected in public, on stage, is not the same as what went on behind the scenes. Don't be fooled by what you see in front of the mask. Imagine what goes on behind. This show is trying to find those truths through dramatization, while at the same time entertaining us.
