Maybe Candle Cove wasn't the best choice

I thought this was very disappointing. The whole Candle Cove show was just very underused, it's on for like a minute in every episodes and it's probably the most interesting part of every episode (possibly because that's what we expected to see).

The original elements made for the series just weren't that interesting. The monster made out of teeth looks interesting visually, yes. It's an impressive special effect, but it doesn't really do much, most of the time it just stands or walks slowly and eats teeth. The way it was shown just didn't do much for me, I didn't think "this was creepy" I just thought "Oh, it's that thing again, OK".

Even at six episodes I thought this dragged. The characters don't really do that much, they don't really come to much new conclusions etc. through most of the series, they just mainly react to whatever happens. That, plus Mike is such an uninteresting character that it made it boring.

Like I wrote in the title of this thread, maybe Candle Cove wasn't the best choice for the show. It's such a short story that they really had to create more material to work with. I tihnk it would work best like a one episode, it wouldn't work well for the whole season.

Hopefully NoEnd House will be better. It looks more interesting visually, from the trailer, and they have more material to work with, plus more varied scares. The first season really did repeat the same scares a lot (dream sequences, creepy kids etc.). I hope it's better, so far, the most fun I have is wondering what will happen in the new season and which Creepypasta they'll use next.

Lol I agree I just made a post about this and think they could have done this as an original but maybe stuck candle cove in there to get people to watch. I do think, as you say, no end house would probably be more suitable for the 6ep format.

How was the original story underused? It is barely a few paragraphs long.

The original story is about a television show that several people remembered watching as kids, but actually didn't exist?

Creepy on its face but not something you can make a series out of.

I think the writers incorporated the original themes into the new story very well. It was a well developed classic Lovecraftian tale of big evil in a small town.

I meant the show, the episodes of it. You only see maybe a minute of it in the entire episode.

It barely takes more than a few minutes to read the original creepypasta.

Kris came up with a very clever concept, but it isn't an epic poem that takes hours to tell.

There is just enough of the concept in the CZ episodes to link it back to the original creepypasta.

So? How does that change the fact that they barely show the actual Candle Cove show?

I thought the show was great. And using too much footage of the broadcast would have ruined it. It was meant to remain mysterious.

any creepy pasta is going to require a lot of new content in order to stretch into six episodes, and the idea isn't relaly do adapt the creepy pastas so much as give them a world to live in.

so even if they get the longer ones doing a straight adaption would be unwise imo.

that being said, im agreed at the rest. it was a pretty boring season because the writer simply didnt have a good plan. his endgame was alright but it still wasn't cohesive to candle cove itself and by the time the character finished his journey i just wanted him out of my life, he was boring and bland.

I think the budget is also a factor as they seemed REALLY limited in location and lighting and such. the next season looks much more professionally filmed with some legit creepy imagery. candle cove would have been great in different hands and a little more cash imo but hopefully no end house does its job
