Hoping it's 👎 after watching the finale episode. I did love the show up to the mid point of ep. 8. From the 'party' sequence forward one can see a decidedly lack of interest from the writers also. I'm so disappointed.

shareDoes anyone know if Michelle Dockery even wants to do another year of this? She has been suffering from grief/ losing her husband and I think took this as an escape to cross the pond and play a totally different character from Downton. But one season may have been enough... any idea?
The story certainly fell apart in 8/9 then came quickly together to create a sort of ending. The 2 characters were incredible chemistry together and ensemble also held their own.
Firstly, it was her fiancé, not her husband, and she signed up for the job before he died. I am sure, though, that working on the show was a good distraction for her.
Secondly, I imagine she has a contract obligating her to a certain number of seasons, so it doesn't really matter whether or not she wants to do it.
Totally agreed , love the show.
