J.K. Simmons Oscar nomination for playing William Frawley....

It's up there with Godfather III being nominated for "Best Picture" in 1990. WTF?

Granted, I LOVE J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson (just like I LOVE Coppola's work with Godfather I & II), but Aaron Sorkin's casting director had to be smoking some REALLY wacked out stuff when she did the awful casting selections for this film. Has she even LOOKED at a photo of William Frawley? Seriously? He was a heavyset squat dude with a round face. J.K. Simmons as Frawley makes as much sense as casting Martin Short as Abraham Lincoln.

When we look back at Will Smith winning "Best Actor", the box office bomb and failed remake West Side Story being nominated for "Best Picture", and the laughably cast Being the Ricardos being showered with acting nominations, I think we should award this year's Oscars the "Worst Oscars" award!

True, it was a weird nomination.

Even Buster from Arrested Development would have been a better nominee.

If you want to see a great performance by JK Simmons, watch Whiplash, which he won a (well deserved) Oscar for.

I guess Simmons doesn't look that much like Frawley, but I was able to get past that. I still thought he played him convincingly.
