Not worth watching

I actually saw all of Season 1 and finally realized it's a big waste of time. If you want to see 1970s NYC the best source is actual films from that era; not this cheap ripoff.

I strongly disagree. I watched and thoroughly enjoyed the first season, in large part because they did such a great job capturing the mood and aesthetic of the '70s without resorting to any blatant callbacks or rehashing tired historical touchpoints. I'm waiting for the chance to see the second season, and glad to hear there is to be a third.

They can't always get it right. Relax mate it's just a programme. Hard to believe that there are those who thought "Taxi Driver" was boring and uninspired. However I can see why you are complaining. I only was able to watch a few episodes of The Deuce before changing the channel. All I will say is the programme is not going to be everyone's cup of tea.

It’s not, but if you’re interested in
the socioeconomic forces that created the modern adult entertainment industry, and the socioeconomic effect of the adult industry on culture, this is a must-see, along with Boogie Nights.

I totally agree. Additionally, I thought Gyllenhaal was extremely miscast. She's too old for the part she's playing. We watched two episodes and never went back. My husband and I grew up in NY in the 70's and were really looking forward to this show but it was so bad we couldn't watch it.

Yes, not a fan of her either. It could have been a great show, though, done the right way.

I was rooting for this show, because 1970s Times Square is my favorite subject. The first season was okay but by the second season, I felt it starting to wane a bit. There was potential there but they didn't really explore it.

I thought it started out seeming like it would be good. But then the same characters show up doing the same predictable stuff. They recreated the Deuce in Upper Manhattan. As I said there are plenty of films of the real thing: i.e. actual 1970s Times Square scenes.
