was good for a while and then it got bad
I thought it was doing pretty well - decent acting, decent dialogue - and even the first action scene was all right - but it did take a big hit later on. Many of the fight scenes didn't work well.
The soundtrack was great throughout the film. But the bad fight scenes and some illogical decision-making by the main character ruined the film.
Otherwise, the scenery, the soundtrack, the acting - these were all pretty decent. The cinematography was good as well - but this was one of those films where the fight choreography spoiled it - and I guess you can also blame poor directing and writing for some illogical decision-making by many characters throughout the film.
So, yeah - I can't recommend it. Spoilers below.
Spoilers:
Some scenes where things went wrong.
Our protagonist was fighting a baddie and the baddie, rather than use a gun to shoot, decided to use it as a bat. WTF?
Then there was that scene - where he took a baddie down the cliff - and either they ran out of budget for a proper stunt or just couldn't do it properly - the landing felt abrupt, as if a second of the fall was cut short.
The final sequence had a fair bit of logical fallacy - he jumped the baddie from behind and grabbed his bag - I mean, he could have taken the baddie there once and for all - he had the surprise advantage after all, but nah. And then he ran and set up a bear trap - the twist here was, he used the trap in order not to fall when taking the baddie over the edge of the cliff. That was interesting, but still kind of nonsensical.
It seems like our heroes could have gotten plenty of guns throughout the film when the baddies dropped them - but instead they resorted to using axes and arrows. Was this some sort of anti-gun statement?
