Just watched episode one.

Not bad but a somewhat familiar sub plot, streetwise criminal helps naive folks get over on those who cross them. Shades of Eddie Murphy in 48 hours, but nowhere near as polished or interesting.

One reviewer said it gets fleshed out more after episode 2, so we'll see.

I have never seen 48 Hours, so I cannot comment there.

I liked the premier. (Currently free on Amazon if anyone is interested).

It felt like a solid short story unto itself, but there are enough open comments and unanswered questions that they can run with……

What I am not comfortable with is that it is quite a stretch to ask the audience to accept a bail bonds woman and a cop would not know their grandson \ first cousin was in jail to begin with. Even if they have lived in ignorance up until this point, I really have a hard time accepting they wouldn’t try to obtain some background info on Pete when he suddenly shows up after all those years. Audrey, Julia, and Taylor all have criminal databases to utilize. Audrey may be suspicious of his motives, but so far Carly is the only one that seems truly skeptical.

I agree with another poster on this board when he\she said it almost seems like they are not sure if they want to be glib or dark. I did see where Yost was quoted as saying the story would get darker as it progressed.

The show has an impressive lineage. I loved Breaking Bad because it was just well-written, brilliantly executed television.

Justified however, is a beloved favorite; the dialogue was priceless and it is the only television show I have watched where I can match family members off to character prototypes. Given that Yost and a few writers are at the helm, Margo Martindale is a main character, and Jacob Pitts is on board (not in the Premier) I want to give it a try.

The premise of this story is unbelievable.

SPOILERS

If Pete needed to hide from the mob, either he leaves prison to go somewhere else, far, far, far away. Or at least he could have created a new identity instead of using the identity of his cellmate who is still alive and well. Starting with that new French-Canadian identity that he started with the story. Why not use that? Or change his appearance. This story is as old as the oldest profession.

Ribisi has enough charisma but there's no way he can carry the whole show on such a silly premise.

I agree. This thing is really far fetched and unrealistic.

I thought it was a spoof or parody of something like on older good years of SNL.
It looks terrible and lame with the same tired stupid looking "action" scenes that dramas have been stealing from each other for years now.

You'll kill everyone!
But Ice Cream Cake!
