It was an obvious weapon in her favor, but I believe we "see it" on the counter relatively early; it didn't immediately signal victory. If anything, I was disappointed how it completely incapacitated him to the point that he dropped his knife and covered his ears.
The film lost me when he failed to open the door while crushing her hand. By that point, I thought he had decided to end his game. At least he should have. But he let the camera linger on her mangled hand for a good 5 seconds before she closed the door. Then there was his exaggerated reaction to the smoke alarm. Finally, despite being barely conscious and violently strangled, she managed to give a strong and accurate death blow.

The alarm hurt him because it was incredibly loud and he was already hurt from the pesticide in his eyes. She was deaf, she needed it loud enough to feel the vibrations, plus the bright lights would have hurt his injured eyes even more, especially since it would be dark with no power.
shareHow loose are you? Maybe he "loses" you?
shareI'm pretty sure "looses" is not even a word. "Loosen" is, as is "loses".
shareThat's fair.
But, when did it lose you?
