Good actors, bad writing

Yikes, I predicted the circumstances of this movie within the first 2 mins. Rich girl has the money and connections to make a movie she wrote with great actors and cast herself as the star. Turns out I was 100% correct.

The ridiculous amount of exposition shoved into the first scene was legitimately laughable. The after school special-level dialogue was only moderately saved by the actors, not counting the lead, who gave high school drama camp vibes. The only saving grace was that Zoey Deutch and Avian Jogia were really fun to watch together. They created the only chuckle I managed to let out throughout the whole (long, over-indulgent at times, almost 2 hrs of blah) movie.

Being a rom-com writer myself, watching a movie like this is so frustrating. Money and connections is really all you need. Talent is optional apparently. Don't ruin your own movie by starring in it when you're not up to par with your peers. Again, yikes.

That's unfortunate.
