It's a really good film.
I don't really remember the original, as it's been many years since I have seen it.
But this was a very well made, well acted, suspenseful prison movie.
If you can put aside any prejudices you have about remakes and separate this from the original, then I don't see why anyone wouldn't enjoy this.
Ignore the criticism and give it a go!
