Great Show!

Anyone else watching? Fundamentally, it's a Chinese soap opera, but set in Shanghai just before WWII (but after the Japanese invasion) and everyone is some sort of spy, spy-trainer, or other political intriguer.

It's unbelievably well done with people either trying to spy for the Mao Communists, the Chang Nationalists, or the Japanese imperialists. It really sucks you in to all the various plots, and they add a lot of twists to keep the viewer guessing all the time. They also use the culture of the time well- there's no special Communist enhancement, and all sides were treated respectfully and accurately. That surprised me- there's usually some special homage paid to the CPC because of China's current politics, but I was surprised to see this quite even-handed.

Fun stuff!

(PS: English subtitles only- otherwise it's in Mandarin , or Japanese.)
