NO GUNS AGAIN (spoilers ahead)

My only complaint is the same one I had about the first season - no guns!!! I mean you have people inevitably being forced to leave the protection of their force field (which isn't worth beans if a creature can jump over it, which is what happened in the first season), venture forth into the wilderness, and inevitably encountering nasty creatures (this time velociraptor-like carnivores). I am not talking about turning the space family Robinson into the space family Rambo, I simply ask for a little common sense on the part of the producers.

Guns are bad, diversity is good, guns are bad, diversity is good, guns are bad, divers...

Diversity is bad, guns are good.

Damnit I got it wrong. Now I need re-education.

I find plenty of flaws in this show, but on this issue, I might cut them some slack. This is mission #24 to Alpha Centauri, and they probably found from the first 23 missions that nothing went wrong and they were just on a cruise ship to a colony with no side adventures, so why bring along guns, unless you're planning on shooting at other passengers?

Please remember the colonists are not on a "cruise ship", they are on a starship and their goal is to colonize and eventually populate an alien world. Simple rules of survival dictate they should prepare for the worst.
