It'd be refreshing if just once...

The big bad guys who were looking to blow up the Capital and take down the American government actually happened to be foreign agents (besides Russia/Eastern Europe) in the service of their own country's power. For example, Israel framing Arab countries, or some alliance between Egypt and Saudi Arabia. It's been a couple of decades since major film/tv producers even dared go there (never Israel of course), dating back to the days of The Siege (1998). Around the late 90s, with films like The Sum of All Fears and The Peacemaker, we started getting fed a steady diet of Russians, neo-Nazis, and white domestic terrorists. So much for diversity.
