Thoughts after watching it?

I watched this today on Disney+. It was somewhat underwhelming. Some of the performances are fine, some fall flat. Some good moments, but not enough substance or charm. Some of the magic of the original animated film is missing. It's watchable and better than its current imdb rating of 3.7. I would rate it a 6/10.

I thought it was meh. Like a 5/10. It had some good color palette, some of the performances were fine (Jude Law was good as Captain Hook, though), the music was good, and at least it tried to do something different instead of being a shot for shot remake. But yeah, it didn't have enough charm or magic, some of the performances didn't work (the actor who played Peter sucked), the pacing was very uneven, and some of the effects look somewhat cheap. Still better than those awful remakes of Lion King and Pinocchio, that's for sure.

I liked it. I liked how they gave Captain Hook some depth by making him and Pan former friends.

Yeah I think it was brigaded or something for the low imdb score. It's not incredible from a depth perspective, but it was pretty fun, whimsical. The magic was done pretty well, law and Gaffigan were the best characters. My kids enjoyed it.

Not amazing but better than a 3.7, score ready seems to be raising.

Let's say someone has kids between 4 and 12. Do you think they'll enjoy this and rewatch it or not enjoy it and never watch it again?

reply

I don't think it is the type of film kids will want to rewatch. It's not very fun.

I'm surprised you gave it a low rating seeing how you gave other questionable shows a pretty high score. I can see why it was slapped onto D+ instead of theatrical. They probably saw how woke it is and played it safe.
