S3 Episode 7.....Kaylon question and spoiler

So it begins with the back story of the Kaylons and how they was mistreated by there creators so rose up against them.
What i didn't understand and maybe this was shown in a previous season but i cant remember now is why did they have the laser eyes that pop out of there heads to kill them?

I can understand that when the Kaylons took over and started making there on kind like Isaac that they would of put this feature in to destroy but why did the biological creators add this to them seeing as they was only designed to be slaves, unless ofc this laser had some other use back then?

reply

Oh, the laser guns in their head was not an original feature. Originally the robots the Kaylons built were non-combatant. I believe the older Kaylon explained that the robots found a way to communicate with each other wirelessly without their masters' knowledge, and there was probably nanotech built into their bodies as well, microscopic robots that could probably do maintenance to keep their bodies in tip-top shape.

If they found a way to manipulate those, they could use them to build the guns in their heads so they could turn against their masters when the time was right. No doubt it probably took years for the robots to do this, since it would have been difficult for them to build a hidden wireless network that their masters would not have been able to detect, nor could it have been easy for the nanites to reconfigure the hardware inside the robots' heads without someone noticing something was off.

Thanks for your reply that makes sense but is this just your theory or was this actually explained in an episode?

reply

It's based on the dialogue, the events that have happened in the show, past experience with current-day sci-fi tropes, and yes, my own theory.

reply

Sounds like a great theory and im happy to go with that, i just wished when K1 was explaining the uprising he said something along those lines you said as i just couldn't see how they went from domestic robots into laser eyed killing machines, it made more sense when Isaac was made as he was made directly from the Kaylons themselves.

reply

I don't agree. The Head Lasers had to be an original feature. The Kaylons were robot slaves. Why not also use them like guard dogs?
