Is it really THAT bad?!

Genuinely asking. I was looking for something for movie night & someone suggested this

Is it worth checking out or should I look for something better?

Feedback would be MUCH appreciated

reply

It's not bad. Worth watching, a 7/10.

reply

Honestly, 7 is pretty darn solid.

I was honestly expecting lower than that. But 7 is definitely entertaining. Thanks

reply

Have you watched it as yet? What's your score then? ;)
I kinda liked it as a homage to Alien(s) and The Abyss. If you overlook all of the plot holes and unbelievable crap, it's a solid 6.5, I just couldn't bring myself to give it a 7 on IMDB, eh.

If you liked Life (2017), you will enjoy this movie for sure. It definitely feels like Life set underwater. I don't think it's poorly directed, they were at least trying to make this movie good. Some camera shots are beautiful, it has a nice visuals and colors, but the action takes in darkness, so it's hard to see the action scenes what's going on, that was my main problem with this movie. I definitely enjoyed it the most though, it's not a bad movie.

reply

Wow, the lighting for the action is that bad, huh?

That's a bummer. I prefer actually seeing my action

Also, never seen Life. Way too many negative receptions. Especially from my friends that it just dropped way Lower on my watchlist

reply

Do you ever just try watching a movie and judging it for yourself?

reply

Of course I do. But sometimes, when I'm REALLY unsure about something, I'd like asking people who've seen it if they'd enjoyed it & Would recommend.

It's just for stuff that I'm not sold on. That's why I'm genuinely glad I found these boards

Yeah!! Whaddya think this is, a place where people discuss and ask opinions on movies or somethin' ????

What a clod.

Underwater was pretty disappointing in my opinion for many of the reasons already stated here. Not because of Stewart, but because I just didn't care about any of the characters whatsoever. The dialogue also felt unnatural.

However! I also watched Life a few weeks ago, and I loved it! I thought it was incredibly suspenseful, *and* it has a proper build up. It was also more "realistic" than this movie, but I do of course use that term lightly since they're both horror.

Also, by horror movie rating standards, I'd say 6.6 isn't too shabby for Life. I'd give any horror above 6.0 a solid chance before judging it.

very bad sound

reply

You mean like the film's sound design/sound mixing?

reply

i had trouble hearing the dialogue.

reply

Oh, that's no biggy. At least not for me. See, I just moved recently & I don't really have a good sound system setup in my new apartment.

I usually just turn on the subtitles. :)

reply

I LIKED IT QUITE A BIT...NOT A CLASSIC BUT MAYBE A 6.5/7 OUT OF 10...K STEWART LOOKED REAL PRETTY TOO.🙂

reply

I give it a solid 7/10, I think people just tend to hate any film Stewart is in, I thought she was very good in this, some really nice effects.

reply

I thought it was all right. It's a pretty straight forward monster movie, really.

6/10

reply

it is a hard 6/10. definetly not the worst film ever and the director was really trying to make a good movie

reply

Yep.
