Lol come on. She's a 20 something in a skull cap, who hacks things, and might as well wear a t-shirt that says "ANGSTY MILLENNIAL!"

Are you not entertained?!

reply

Agreed!

reply

I guess they're trying to cover all the bases, but millenials won't watch this.

Sent from my computer, using my keyboard.

LOL. Yeah. Her character said something in the pilot that REALLY pissed me off. It was some typical BS from the type.

Oh yeah, she said something REALLY snotty about leaving her ear buds in when her boss asked her to remove them. I wanted to give her a good SMACK...in my mind. Dont get all excited. But that part pissed me off. We are supposed to LIKE her for that?
not!

reply

Perhaps a bit cheap, but who cares; introducing a character like that, saves a lot of explaining.
Stereotype model of a skilled hacker. ;)

Perhaps. But hackers are becoming VERY common place these days. Want to keep your job? Then dont be a jack ass to your boss. Be a jackass to others, your co workers, but not the boss. I would have had a VERY close and "intimate" conversation about proper behavior and her imminent future.

Weatherly runs a multi gazillion dollar company. He doesnt have time or patience for such disrespect. It was extremely disrespectful that the writers failed at making "edgy" or "cute" or "sassy".

I would have done a "HILLARY" (big hammer) on her ear buds.

You would have sent the earbuds classified emails from an unsecured server?

So true; copy cats all over the place.

What I don't agree on per sé, is the "honey up the boss" idea.
If you want that, you have to pay for it and choose official "Black hats" from a recommended company.
At the moment you opt for young, skillful, "thinking out of the box", but cheap hackers,
you know you're letting yourself in with very smart, but often rebellious kids, who don't exactly follow etiquette.
Good thing is that the hackers usually work behind the scenes; they don't need to be super representative.
My point is that the "bosses" are very dependent on the hackers, like they are dependent on doctors e.g., but they don't show respect at all towards the "life savers" they employ. Respect needs to work both ways IMHO.

I agree though, tat the writers could have done a better job.

(The employment situation in the US is different from that in Western Europe; whether they have a short or long term contract, employees are protected against instant dismissal - apart from very serious offences - and there is more mutual respect.)

reply

Dont get me wrong. I LIKE edgy, out of the box, grunge dressing little girl hackers. But when the boss says "Get the sht out of your ears, I am talking to you" dont say what she did which was basically "screw u. Deal with it"

That really pissed me off. A lot. What are writers thinking???
Of course I am not angry with the actress or the character. Just the writer(s)
If I was the actress I would have fought hard to change that line to something much better.

I usually could care less about a flippant line in a TV show. But this one line triggered me like a FemiNazi at a Fraternity House party.

reply

You're right. :)

Is it überhaupt possible to study without being a member of a fraternity (in the US)?

reply

I thought a 20 year old is Generation Z, not a Millennial.

reply

She called herself a Millennial. It starts somewhere in the 20's, so I guess her age must be in that range.

As much as she is a trope--take off the hat indoors!--I sorta like her. I'd love to know what she did to that cup of coffee......

reply

FWIW between 18 and 34 - usually living with their parents. 

reply

An exactly 20 year old would indeed be Gen Z by most definitions. But I said "20-something" which implies mid to late 20s.

Are you not entertained?!

reply

Just looked it up and the actress, Annabelle Attanasio, is 23.

Warm girl pee. Obliviously!

reply

She's a smug little a-hole who thinks she's hip because of that stupid-looking hat. He should fire the little twit and hire a grownup.
