Guitar goof

When Anna gives Moody the guitar, he tells her it's a 1958 Gibson Flying V and that Albert King played it. It absolutely is not. At the very earliest, it's a 1975 "second reissue" (1975-1979). He's correct about particulars of the 1958, African limba wood, etc., but the later reissues were mahogany, as was the one in the movie. The 1958s had the three knobs in a row, while the reissues had them in a triangle. Also the 58s had strings that went through the body and the reissues had a stop-bar tail piece. There are a lot more differences but those are some of them.

I know no one really cares but they could have gotten a 58 replica. There are plenty out there. (the originals are at least $250,000.00)

Yes, I'm a bit of a Flying V expert. I have 4 of them. 2 1975s (just like the one in the movie), a custom 1958 replica and a 2002 Gibson Custom Shop one.

P.S. The broken one was a cheap knockoff which was a good thing. The second reissues are worth a lot of money too.

Interesting. I know nothing about guitars, so I bought right into it. I bet when they threw this out there, they really didn't know all the details, or expected anyone to care. I wonder how exact the information about the books were when that was being discussed in the book store.
