The jokes are a misfire in this movie...But it's watchable too long but watchable. It has some shitty woke moments(white privilege joke,gun violence joke,Feminist Mary Sue scenes) but it is not in your face wokeness which is good.A bit overrated in Imdb I would give it a 6.7 -6.8 not 7.5.A breath of fresh air for Hollywood
shareYeah, it seems that woke moments are somehow shoehorned. There's other elements like players in the MMO (who behave as sociopaths) being almost all of them white males, and so were the minions, "diversity" in the MMO only applies to nice NPCs.
Even though all that... it didn't feel like they were pushing an agenda. It felt more like they had to check boxes because producers (or somebody) said so. I think there were some female minions, but in most cases you could barely see their faces for more than a blink of an eye, like somebody ordered to hide that during editing. And the reference about "patriarchy" and "gender roles" looked like shoehorned there with a hammer.
The movie could have been much funnier and better if the writers didn't have to walk on eggshells. But I guess it's as good as it gets nowadays, which is... not much. The last comedy I genuinely enjoyed was Two Nice Guys, and that was 5 years ago.
