should've been a kids movie

this movie's script reeks of kid's movie but it's played by 40 somethings. there's no way it got 7 something on imdb. that's shilling votes for sure.

It was entertaining. Not memorable by any stretch of the imagination but it was a fun popcorn movie. I could see it getting a high score, simply because you didn't like a movie doesn't mean the rest of the world shares your view.

reply

Whatever, the movie was entertaining and certainly worth a 7+ rating.

I liked the movie a lot. Found it in the pile of DVDs at Walmart. No regrets on grabbing it.

reply

It is a kids movie. Who told you it is not? Didn't the cartoonish villain tip you off?

reply

kid's movies don't feature people in their 40s and also does not have any characters who are children. that's what "it should've been a kid's movie means." the leads should've been early teens.

reply

A lot of kids movies do not feature kids, for example Disney movies like Aladdin.

reply

my god. wtf are you arguing here? aladdin started out as a cartoon.

It is a rip off of a kid movie, Lego The Movie (2014). It's basically the producers watched Lego The Movie and thought hmmm.. what if we make a movie exactly like this but live-action starring Ryan Reynolds.

reply

Yes, it was almost an identical premise, but I felt this one executed it better.

reply

Yeah, I was just answering the OP on why does it reek of a kids movie's script, because it was totally ripped out of a kids movie.

Not only the premise, but the characters were almost exactly the same. Guy is basically Emmet to a T. Molotov is Wyldstyle. They even have the bad cop good cop guy from Lego showing as... cops!
