The Pioneer Family

There were a lot of emotional scenes, but this was the one that affected me the most. There was so much hope when they arrived and the father said he was going to build "a good little house." And then came the Indian raid (which was something early settlers were constantly guarding against) and the aftermath. In centuries past, life was so much more dangerous than most people today realize. This scene illustrated that perfectly. Rooney Mara's character lost her husband, but the pioneer family lost everyone.

Or you just don't invade others countries and just decide that this is now YOUR land. Without paying for it, best even shooting everyone who comes and say the claim is wrong. Sorry, but the settlers got what they deserve.

Guess you feel the same way about the land wars between various Native American tribes before any settlers ever arrived? Do you think the native women and children caught in these conflicts "got what they deserved" when they were massacred by another tribe?
