Anyone else hoping it would be a little more fun?

I had been looking forward to going to see Creed II on Thanksgiving Day ever since the release date was announced. I enjoyed the first film and was waiting for a sequel.

I thought the film was well-made, but as something of a direct sequel to Rocky IV--the most fun and peppiest of all the Rocky films--I was a little let down by Creed II's somber tone and utter self-seriousness. They really lean into the drama in this one, even a little more so than in the first Creed I think.

Often times as franchises continue the entries get progressively less serious as they go, and if the Creed franchise continues then frankly I hope this feature kicks in pretty soon.
