Anti-abortion stance

When Donnie and Bianca find out about the pregnancy she says she wants to have kids, but not so soon. She was clearly thinking about her career and the impending doom of hearing loss. Which, at the same time, she knew could be hereditary. But they decided to go on in the blink of an eye, after he said they must be ready.

I don't expect to see an abortion on a movie like this, but maybe an argument between the two of them about it. After all, money wasn't an issue for them, they knew she could be a mother while still pursuing a singing career (a privilege for a few), so that might be the ultimate reason to go on with the pregrancy. While the Rocky saga always had a religious subtext, the first two movies were also more crude (we all remember the terrible things Paulie said to her sister). This one felt too Disney to me.

Donnie taking matters into his own hands, by punching her in the stomach with all his might, would've been more consistent with the tone and theme of this flick

I don't think this was dark at all, especially comparing it to the first two Rocky movies. Remember how Paulie got his sister into a coma, and almost make her lose her baby.
