now, officially done with CGI.

saw this due to other people's interest...

my god. it checked ALL the boxes of typical:

indestructable people
sky beams
cgi fights
random power abilities, and sudden random weaknesses...

seems like these stories sacrifice so much to pay for these watchable only (unplayable) video game movies.

done.

Too late. It was the final digital straw

It was the same old derivative shit we've seen in every other superhero film.

I saw this film after people said it was good and man..... these superhero films are now seriously getting on my nerves, because they are all the same old formulaic shit again and again and again. Would you rather watch spiderman 35 or fast and furious 59? Take your pick - lol

reply

Well the superhero films are oversaturated now. Action films like Mission Impossible oravericnd Maverickl are still good because they keep it at a level where they DONT go overboard and tell a good story. Fast and Furious sucks now and the superhero films/series are getting more surreal and campy which each installement. It's not even about the cgi, that makes them bad.

I think we are seeing the final days of the theater and these big budget films will be released on platforms like most Dramas and Comedy's have been for the last 3 or 4 years. Films like this used to be event films. That is not longer the case.

mission impossible is in the same category as fast and furious at this point (for me, i mean) - perhaps not in terms of going over the top, but in terms of storytelling and character development.

I don't think black adam went overboard btw - it featured a derivative script, and subpar acting. I enjoyed watching superhero cartoons when i was young - I'd watch nearly all them on Saturday/Sunday. Xmen was great, ironman not so great, spiderman had a unique humorous vibe which made it worthy (similar to teenage mutant turtles?), batman-i only liked some episodes. BTW, Gargoyles was another great series, I'm surprised the big wigs in hollywood are not going after that property, because it's one of the few series which consistently featured decent storytelling/character development and was just as mature (relatively speaking) as xmen.

X-Men sucked absolute shit, they don't even act like a real superhero team IMO, their methods of operation are shady and unorthodox and just don't give off that superhero vibe. Batman on the other hand is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better then those freaky, shit Mutants will ever be, period!

Mission Impossible definitely doesn't overdo the ridiculousness that ff has at this point. The stories are much smarter as well. So I don't quite out it in the same category...not yet anyways. 😆
