Anyone else thinks Genisys was underrated?

I've seen all the Terminator films and fully intend to watch Dark Fate next year when it becomes available on Sky Cinema. The Terminator and T2 are both classic films. I had a soft spot for T3 but knew it was shit deep down. Then we got the steaming pile of dung Salvation. But given what I'd read about the film, Genisys seemed just as bad...but I watched it last year and ended up really enjoying it. Maybe because I let myself just enjoy the experience without focusing too much on the timeline issues, but I really liked Pops and his dynamic with Sarah.

Why was it hated so, SO much? It was (in my opinion) far superior to T3 and Salvation. I guess people couldn't get over what they did to John Conner in the film, and I get that's a problem for me too. But yeah, I think it was underrated.

I ENJOY MANY ELEMENTS OF GENYSIS..POPS TERMINATOR BEING BY FAVORITE..HE IS WHAT WE ALL WISH FOR WHEN THE T800 DROPS HIMSELF INTO THE LIQUID METAL AT THE END OF T2...WE ALL WISH HE WOULD STAY AND BE JOHN'S UNCLE.ONLINE FILM FANS ARE VERY STRICT,VERY JADED,AND VERY PRONE TO EXXAGERATION....AS A TERMINATOR FILM GENYSIS IS TERRIBLE...AS A FUN SCI FI ACTION ROMP ITS NOT TOO BAD AT ALL...

I watched it a second time and it was better than the first time around. What really killed it for me initially was the garage house scene where John asks Sarah and Kyle to join him and when they reply "what if we refuse" he says "then you will die". Such lazy unoriginal writing. The first 15 minutes of future war is really good, but then it becomes a below average action flick.

Salvation was total crap I agree

Definitely not, it's a cringy embarrassment. Salvation is okay - best of the post-T2 "sequels" imo, which isn't saying much. It doesn't break the timeline and the past films, which Genisys was the worst at. I would actually watch Salvation again, unlike any of the others.

I think of judgement day was said to have happened in 2004 instead of 1997 it would of been a great continuation of rise of the machines letting us know this is the postponed future with small changes before john is captured and terminatorised

IMO, Genysis is pure fan fiction. It has some fun moments, but as a real terminator movie is not very good. Even thought there is much confusion and debate about the timelines in 1, 2, and 3, Genysis starts a totally new universe that doesn't cross over into any of the others.
