As sad as it is how David ended up i guess its realistic

Going by how he acted in the original series, he was always kind of a couch potato and a weak artsy type of guy, it is hard to picture someone like that growing up and getting a full time job and raising a family. I guess it makes sense he grew up to be an absent dad traveling and doing charity work, nothing that really tied him down and put alot of responsibility on him.

Before this episode i actually thought he may be some kind of comic book artist, but i guess that would have been an unrealistic scenario. I like the way they did it, it made it feel more real, alot of the time a teenagers dreams of doing something doesn't come true and sometimes they do end up like David.

Yeah, it’s pretty depressing. For a few fleeting moments I thought that they ruined his character and was sad. Then I realized that it’s actually pretty realistic. I think it struck me so hard in the gut because I watch the reruns daily and theirs felt like the big relationship even though Mark and Becky’s was longer.

It was surprisingly realistic, yes. We see how toxic their relationship can be and when they both stop themselves from fighting again it's clear that their personalities simply don't mesh entirely. Darlene has always been overbearing and David has always been too sensitive to stand up to it.

The way the episode explained it DOES make you believe that David could up and leave like that. Besides, he was at least doing some good in his absence with Doctors Without Borders.

I suppose they could always rekindle the David/Darlene relationship in Season 11 but I don't see a point anymore because the episode does a great job of telling the audience how much of a disaster they truly ARE as a couple, as Roseanne stated.

I agree. As I watched it I felt sad and kinda irritated but the more I watched I saw it was realistic to how he likely would have turned out.
