Dan was quite magnanimous with David

Knowing Dan, it could have gone an entirely different way but Dan went quite easy on David, given the circumstances. I love the way he sternly told him: "Great, then that's when you'll see the kids. Questions? Comments?"

It's Dan's way of saying: "You'll see them when you get your act together."

His smile and "You always were a smart boy" at the end could be interpreted in a few ways but I took it to mean Dan and David understood Dan's nature enough to know that he didn't want to defy his position on this matter. That and perhaps Dan was somewhat pleased to see David willing to finally take responsibility for his actions.

I sure hope they mend fences in the future. Dan has always been quick to forgive David in the past and has always secretly envied his intelligence to an extent. It will be interesting to see where they go from here.
