A better film than this
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, which is roughly equivalent in that it takes place in an idyllic setting outside a concentration camp. The plot is straightforward, and the ending is a horrific montage of evil that leaves the audience unambiguously aware of the horrors that are going on outside the families' purview.
And it's in English, which I liked, though it may not be a plus to some viewers.
