Had the ingredients for a great movie

A great premise, with quality actors on-board, but it all fell short. Why? First, and perhaps due to a limited budget, it seemed very rushed. In the first ten minutes of the film, it goes from Nic Cage negotiating with creditors while sitting in the cab of his semi, to breaking up what was seemingly an attempted murder in a public restroom (with some very cheesy dialogue - "next time, I wantcha to wrestle with a mangator!", to following the "murder victim" out to the parking lot, where they both ham handedly reveal personal and intimate details and secrets to each other. Then she convinces him to drive her to a hospital to see her dying daughter, and then convinces him to strangle her to inexplicably save her daughter..AND HE DOES IT. All of this happens in the first ten minutes of the film.

This is just one example of how they fucked up a potentially great movie. Had they not rushed it and invested a little more time and effort into story building, we could have been intrigued and drawn in, instead, we were pushed way.

The acting from the three leads (Cage, Potente, and Mitchell) was very good. The fault is not with them. The fault lies with just about everyone else involved with this film. They took something that could have been beautiful and wiped their ass with it. The last time I felt this betrayed by incompetent writers and producers was when I watched the last season of Game of Thrones.

Sorry for the spoiler, but you were never gonna watch this movie anyway, so kinda not sorry.

I thought it was fun and entertaining.

It has been so long, I barely remember the movie. Despite ridicule from some of my snobby friends, I like Nick Cage as an actor. Could you tell me what aspect of the movie resonated with you? Seriously, I want to know.

I enjoyed Cage's crazy performance and I liked the story. It was wild and over the top at times, but I had fun with it.

A couple nice nipples was the only redeeming factor in this movie.
