Just finished the final episode...(spoilers)

And I don't know...as much as it sucked that Beck died, and as much as it was kind of weird that I was rooting for Joe somehow, at least a little...I think it'd have ended better with him just noticing the new girl walking in. Not having her turn out to be Candace, I mean. Because that's some pretty unsettling stuff right there, showing how the cycle begins anew. Just, on to the new fixation, just like that. Here he goes again. Fade to black. Boom...impact!

Introducing Candace took that away from us, and we're left with questions instead. Was she really in Italy then? What brought her back...what does she know?

And the story becomes a different one in the context of it being a bigger story. Instead of having ten episodes detailing the inner-workings of an obsessive, love-starved man on the way to becoming a serial killer, we have nine episodes of tension building and then a few days of an imprisoned Beck before she ultimately fails at her escape attempt. And we're left with wondering what comes next.

This should have been its own, fully contained story, IMO. It was really well told, but the ending felt like a pulled punch.
