Best TV Show Since "Breaking Bad"

Fantastic. A true gem. Hopefully it is popular enough to stay on for a few seasons.

Shame it is only 30 minutes.

reply

I mean, it's a good enough show, but THAT is an overstatement.

reply

You are so sure that this is not the best show since breaking bad then what IS the best show since Breaking Bad?

reply

I've even seen some better shows than that since our exchange 9 months ago, like Criminal (well, some parts were better than others) and Unorthodox.

There are also some highly acclaimed series that I personally never watched (because it's just impossible to watch everything that's worthwhile nowadays) - like Downton Abbey and The Crown.

reply

Yeah, a huge overstatement, in fact.

I mean, what was up with that last episode??

reply

So what IS the best show since Breaking Bad?

reply

I don't know, I've seen so many good ones, I don't know that there is necessarily a "best" one (well, maybe Chernobyl or season one of True Detective). But plenty were done better than Mr Inbetween:

Ozark
Mindhunter
House of Cards
Stranger Things (if we are including all genres)
Game of Thrones
Outlander
Silicon Valley
Fleabag
Black Mirror, at least some of the stories
Westworld
Daredevil
Watchmen, that I am currently watching
The Knick
The Night Of
The Boys
Get Shorty
DARK (if we are including foreign-language series)
Mr. Robot
Unbelievable

I could probably name dozens of others if I give it some more thought, and that's considering that there are also quite a few quality series that I haven't watched. Well okay, if I had to choose, I'd say Fargo is the best show since Breaking Bad.

Mr. Inbetween, in fact, wouldn't make my "best of" list at all - it doesn't hold a candle to any of the shows I've named. I think it's about the same level as Better Things.

Totally agree Nosduj, I can't get enough of this show! Top notch writing, acting and direction, and always leaves you wanting more. This is without a doubt some of the best TV I've ever seen.

Would love to see The Magician (2005) which was a prequel of sorts.

reply

Well if this is NOT the best show since Breaking Bad I would like to know what is right? Apparently the two people above don't think so but they did not volunteer the show they think IS the best since Breaking Bad.

There is something real about the dialoge of this show. They are like the conversations Vincent and Jules would have in Pulp Fiction. So casual yet believable.

Sean Ryan is a fantastic writer.

reply

Good comparison with Vincent & Jules. As an Aussie, I can vouch that the dialogue is 100% real, and those funny moments like Freddie's beef with the amount of toilet paper, just so real that you know they've come from real life.

Tbh I've not seen Breaking Bad, but to give you my take on what it's the best since, I'd have to say Wolf Creek - another great Aussie production.

reply

If this is the best to you, then you simply haven't seen enough.

And I did list out everything I thought was better - and received no acknowledgment from you.

reply

Yeah I've seen the magician. Well worth a watch if you can find it. Very different style to the show. It's more of a mockumentary.

reply

Animal Kingdom on FX is really really good too.
