Margo and Aleida

I've been binge watching this series as I have only just gotten Apple+

I am only just starting Season two and just past the point where Margo Tracks down the Now adult Aleida and offers her a job at NASA as an Engineer.

A lot of my binge watching has been late night and I've sorta drifted in and out a few times. Rewinding where I could when I realized I've missed something.

But the last thing I remember about those two was Aleida's father being deported and Margo offering for Aleida to live with her.

So the Animosity Aleida has for Margo and the time where they've been separated and Aleida constantly referring to "What Margo did to her" has me confused.

Is this something I missed or is it something deliberately vague which will be explained later in a few episodes? If it is yet to be explained, just let me know. But if I missed something, What happened?

You actually have it backwards. Aleida asked to stay with Margo and she said no. So she was completely on her own all of those years until we see her again.
