Reynolds 'Deadpool schtick' is getting annoying

I know, I know, he's been doing that for a long time now. Way before Deadpool. But it feels like he's been overdoing it of late. He was the same character in Hitman's Bodyguard, 6 Underground, Hobbs & Shaw and now this.

I honestly think that his wit gets to shine in films with decent to good writing. We know it definitely fits Deadpool. He was pretty fun in Free Guy & his mint mobile/Aviation Gin commercial are honestly pretty awesome to watch

But him doing the same schtick in movies is getting really old in my opinion.

reply

I APPRECIATE HIS SCHTICK...BUT..YOU ARERIGHT...HE IS IN A SCHTICK RUT...HE NEEDS TO SWITCH IT UP MORE.

reply

Yesss! I honestly think he's a good actor. He was fantastic in Buried. Also loved him in Smokin Aces & the highly underrated dark comedy, The Voices

reply

FUCK BURIED...GREAT FILM THAT I WILL NEVER WATCH AGAIN...THE VOICES IS SPECIAL...LOVE THAT ONE...HE WAS REALLY GOOD IN DEFINITELY,MAYBE TOO.

reply

First of all, how dare you refuse to rewatch Buried?! That film did wonders for my claustrophobia. And by wonders, I mean anxiety attacks. 😆

Oh wait, Definitely Maybe is the one where he has a little girl right? I liked that one

reply

Yeah, he seems to be the same character in his movies. He is pretty funny, but he needs a change.

reply

He honestly has really good comedic timing. But he's just doing the same thing/character.

I remember watching a clip of him in Hobbs & Shaw recently and he was literally just doing Wade Wilson, again

reply

One does not begin a sentence with a conjunction, “Doctor.” An educated person knows that. You, on the other hand . . .

And do not hand me that bullshit that you have legally changed your family name to “Doctor.” That bullshit *might* work in the 5th grade, but not in the adult world of mature brains and descended balls.

reply

Then how would you know?

reply

Yep reminds me of an old Simpson's cartoon where Bart was the, "I didn't do it." boy... and now Ryan has made it to the Krusty the Clown part of the episode... his schtick isn't funny anymore its gotten boring.

reply

After he did Deadpool he never became the same. As if he turned gay or something. You should see his past work in horror or the older Deadpool where he was more serious.

reply

He needs a darker, more serious project, to tap into those acting chops again. His cocky, smartass, rascal schtick is indeed wearing thin....

The way Jim Carey’s schtick got old. And Adam Sandler....Will Farrell......

reply

Yeah he needs to do a serious drama or a thriller. Or an action movie like Safe House where he plays it straight. I really like him but I'm growing tired of this current act.

reply

Reynolds was using that sarcastic/witty schtick long before he ever appeared on the screen as Dead Pool. You casuals are something else.

reply

Everyone knows this. It dates back even before his Van Wilder days. Back to his sitcom days.

It’s just that the Deadpool character epitomizes it.

reply

The OP says this at the very beginning.

reply

fascinating, I still don't agree with the OP. what he does works for him and that's that. Maybe he'll switch it up within the right role some day but for now he's doing just fine in my book.

reply

Can't stand the guy's face anymore.

reply

He needs to demonstrate some range. Maybe I just haven't been watching the right RR movies, but the last time I remember him doing something really different from Amityville Horror, and that was all the way back in 2005.

Can he do a serious drama? I have no idea.

reply

Watch Buried.

reply

I'll have to check it out.

reply

Reynolds has been doing this since way back in Blade Trinity and it is long past annoying..
