So I could be wrong but isn't it against the rules for a detective to interrogate a minor without their parent/guardian/lawyer present?
Under the law, Jake isn't capable of understanding his rights. So yes. But Devon's mom doesn't seem to be following any procedure here, interrogating a science teacher is the highlight of absurdity. So we should probably assume she has no superiors and can do whatever the hell she wants.
