It might have been more interesting if the plane had disappeared longer ago, and reappeared in 2018. From 2013 to 2018, not much has taken place that will be big news or unfamiliar to these people. If they had been lost 20, 30, 40 years ago or longer, a lot more could have been done with their re-adaptation to society. Imagine an airliner full of people from 1958 landing in 2018 and confronting new technology, wokeness, and the fact that they're still young but just about everyone they knew has got old or died.
