Was hoping for "The Leftovers" but all I got was "Grey's Anatomy"

Man I was so excited to watch this based on the reviews and recs. But it's not akin to Lost - it's not akin to The Leftovers...it's just more sappy network melodrama with some downright terrible acting to boot.

I'm about halfway through season 1 and I am barely hanging on....

Very accurate. Although I can't stop watching. I just want to see what ridiculousness they come up with to explain that plane being gone for 5 years. I just watched the first part of season 4 and now I have 100 more questions

Yeah, I can't stop watching either, even though it's gotten a bit ridiculous. What is it about this show that's so addicting??

It lost me at the pilot. I literally could not remember the names of any of the characters. I can´t watch a mystery show to just to find out what happens next, I need the characters to resonate with me and enjoy the journey with them. They all just seem very generic, bland and uninteresting. LOST was great because the characters were unique.

Those were two great shows that I enjoyed. I had Manifest in my queue, however, now I'm reconsidering since it seems like it is a whopping four seasons of "fillers" and I have never cared to watch a soap opera like GA.

That’s because Damon Lindelof is a good writer. Instead of trying to make the next Lost he made The Leftovers and by the time that finished it had arguably established itself as the next Lost whilst also being very unique in it’s own right.

So many shows so desperately want to be the next Lost in that they take a mystery story but then they don’t make the drama around that mystery compelling and well written. Shows like Flash Forward, The Event, Alcatraz, Manifest and many others have all failed in trying to recapture what made Lindelof’s shows must-watch TV.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of the ending of Lost there’s no denying the majority of that show is fantastically well written in terms of character, drama and mystery.
