is the man with bites/rash on his necks a police officer?
shareYup. He; Jack Hoskins, works in the same police station as Ralph (Ben Mendelsohn character). He's a drunk and quite an asshole.
An interesting thing and a theory I have is that when the little girl (Maya Maitland) explains to Ralph that the man that visits her told her that he (Ralph) should stop looking or bad things will happen, I believe the killer is using Jack (with the rash on his neck) to tell him to do things. Like feeding him the deer and buying all that shit that he then threw where he left the deer. Most likely, he will use Jack to do something to either Ralph or to his wife or to the Maitland family.
Good theory. Clearly, his character was "ripe" to be semi-possessed, or deeply manipulated, given his character flaws and proclivity to violence.
