Generic crap. Or how actors pay their houses.

This should go straight to Netflix or what have you. It certainly wasn't worth the two hours I spent on it.

Next movie better have some t&a because cookie cutter hitman:bang bang isn't doing it for me no more.

I'm getting serious about prescreening now, life really is too short.

Matt Newton probably had a vision for it as he wrote it and was set to direct, but he was fired for domestic violence. The new director is probably just a corporate pick who read the pages and directed it in the most basic fashion adding nothing to the style which is usually how movies end up looking so generic.

reply

Sure. But do you care why the egg broke in the carton at the supermarket or do you just pick a different carton?

reply

In this situation, you wouldn't immediately know the egg was broken in the carton until after you bought them. Do you go back to the store to trade the carton after you bought it? Probably not. You stick with what you got.

That's how it would go with the production. The new director seems to know what they're doing as they are shooting the scenes on the pages straight forward. Then weeks down the road you realize there's no real style or substance to it. So... fire the director again wasting all that money, and cross your fingers that you find another who is able to make a really good movie out of it? Or... just ride it out and hope for the best? The latter is probably the better choice in most cases.

reply

I'm the consumer here and I check the eggs before I buy them. I don't really care what happened during production when a movie is bad, I just want to know it is bad so I can avoid watching it.

reply

Well you're in luck. There's a 5.4 rating on IMDB.

reply

Where did you see this? IMDB says it's not out until September

reply

It was released earlier here.

reply

Was released in some countries back in July. You can get it off the dark web right now but I wouldn't waste my bandwidth on it. It really isn't that good. A few decent choreographed fight scenes and lots of filler in between. Just watch the trailer on Youtube and you've got all the movie from start to finish.

reply

Well, the movie is pretty bad and I am really annoyed that they wasted all that talent. I did like Malkovich. I thought he was the only one who actually got a little emotion and depth into his character. Although it seems rather underwritten like all the others.
When I saw Chatain fight I cringed. I mean the choreography was really bad and after seeing Charlize Theron doing such a great job with it in so many movies this is really disappointing. Tate Taylor isn't a bad director. He hasn't made too many movies but Winter's Bone was amazing and it's not entirely his fold. The actors didn't seem to really care, the story is a shambles and there is never any excitement or tension. There isn't even a twist or showdown that would at least make a satisfying ending. The whole backstory is strange and we never get closure. Really the only good thing about the movie is John Malkovich.

Agreed, this type of movies is beneath Chastain. She shouldn't be doing generic crap like this.
